Alors que leur exploitation horticole ressemblait un peu plus chaque jour \u00e0 l\u2019arche de No\u00e9, \u00c9<\/strong><\/a>liane et Pierre Thivillon<\/strong><\/a> se d\u00e9cid\u00e8rent un beau jour de 1971 \u00e0 vivre compl\u00e8tement leur passion pour les animaux. Apr\u00e8s plusieurs mois de d\u00e9marches et de travail acharn\u00e9, ils purent ouvrir au public, en juillet 1972, l\u2019Espace zoologique de Saint-Martin-la-Plaine<\/strong><\/a>.
\nCe modeste \u00e9tablissement, anim\u00e9 par des autodidactes d\u00e9termin\u00e9s mais sans grandes ressources financi\u00e8res, est devenu, au tournant du XXIe si\u00e8cle, un parc animalier reconnu, qui contribue \u2013 au travers de l\u2019association Tonga terre d\u2019accueil<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 au sauvetage de nombreux animaux en d\u00e9tresse, qui sont recueillis et remis en forme avant d\u2019\u00eatre plac\u00e9s dans des espaces adapt\u00e9s.
\nC\u2019est cette aventure, ainsi que les multiples engagements des ma\u00eetres des lieux en faveur de la cause animale que Philippe Beau<\/a><\/strong> nous invite \u00e0 d\u00e9couvrir dans le pr\u00e9sent ouvrage. Pierre Thivillon nous fait \u00e9galement b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier de sa connaissance particuli\u00e8rement fine du comportement des gorilles<\/strong>. Cette expertise il l\u2019a acquise par la fr\u00e9quentation quotidienne de l\u2019esp\u00e8ce et surtout gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 Digit<\/strong>, une femelle qu\u2019\u00c9liane et lui ont litt\u00e9ralement adopt\u00e9e peu apr\u00e8s sa naissance au parc en 1998.<\/span><\/p>\n
